Shark NV800UKT – How does it cope with pet hair?

Competing with Dyson’s Fluffy, this Shark’s front roller is every bit as effective at cleaning pet hairs from hard floors. From the finest single pet hairs to big balls of Labrador tumble weed, the head claws in 100% of fluffy debris. Sucked in hairs seem to avoid the secondary bristle brush and end up in the bin too.

The front roller doesn’t work as well over carpet, but this isn’t an issue with the secondary brush bar. Spinning much faster on the carpet setting, it pulled up hairs wound into the pile well. Only some seriously pile-entangled hairs resisted its cleaning power.

For pet beds, the mini-turbo tool works a treat. The spinning brush keeps it from sucking in loose material while simultaneously scraping engrained dirt and hairs from the fibres.

For those with pets that prefer the sofa to their own beds – I’m looking at both our dogs across the office – the upholstery tool is pretty effective too. The red pads do claw hairs well, but that does mean you’ll need to clean the tool every so often to keep it effective.

Why buy the Shark NV800UKT?

Versatile and effective, the NV800UKT offers mains-powered vacuuming as an upright, cylinder and even a stick-style lightweight cleaner. The twin rollers, polishing action of the soft bar, great LED lighting and solid suction get the better of dirt on a wide range of surfaces. The Lift-Away core and detail tools make stair cleaning easy.

Fully assembled it’s quite heavy, the floorhead does tend to drive forward and the bin is rather bijou. But if you can live with those caveats then the Shark Lift-Away DuoClean NV800UKT is a great all-rounder.

PROS / The soft rolling brush on the front is perfect for cleaning hardwood flooring without scratching it.CONS / There is no way to manually adjust the vacuum cleaner’s head to be closer or farther away from the floor, which can impact suction. VERDICT / The combined feature set combines the gentleness you need on hardwood flooring with the strength to clean all types of carpeting, too.

The Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed wood floor vacuum did an amazing job of cleaning up different types of messes on multiple types of flooring, including all bare floors. Our Top Ten Reviews Gold Award winner does such a good job on all surfaces that you won’t have to buy a separate unit for your hardwoods. It is designed with two types of rolling brushes – a soft one right out front and a more traditional bristled brush behind it. The brushes work together to clear bigger debris and finer particles even on the barest of flooring. This is a great vacuum cleaner. It swivels when you use it and it has great power when it sucks up dust, hair, lent etc. It is great on carpet and great on ceramic tile. The lift away feature is fantastic because you can hold it and go any where with it. Once you lift it up, it’s fairly lightweight. The machine itself is a little heavy, but it is self propelled, so it takes nothing to use it. The buttons are all labeled so there is no question as what they do. You can lift the handle out and attach the small attachment and clean your stairs with it. It is the best I have ever used on my stairs. I was very impressed with it. It looks great and is really quiet when it is running. The canister lifts off to empty it after each use and it is very easy to put back together. No screwdrivers needed to put it together and it all snapped together with no problems. Took about 10 minutes to have it all together from start to finish. LOVE this machine. Would recommend it to anyone!

I was quite impressed with Shark vacuum cleaner…Apparently it states that it is for carpets and hardwood floors…The power is incredible! The vacuum like any other is a bit loud…and also a bit heavier than expected but not too heavy…I love the soft’s extremely soft…Oh the vacuum has a light too…Vacuum is very easy to assemble and it does come with easy to follow instructions…It is not bulky at all…It’s so convenient to store away..As for cleaning the carpet… It really gets the dirt out…at times the suction was a lil too good lol…It also comes with 4 accessories…I used one to clean the sofas…and It works great to remove pet hair too…Now as far as the hardwood floors…It was ok…The soft brush wasn’t harsh at all for the wood floor…but I didn’t see great results like I did with the carpet cleaning…maybe I was expecting too much? or maybe my floors where not as dirty like I thought? Overall this vacuum works great…I will be using it constantly…and do recommend it =)

At first I was intimidated by how many parts I had to unpack. It was packed very well. But after reading the Quick Start Guide it was easy to put together and just snapped together. Don’t put this together without reading first. The guide makes it easy to assemble and it’s use. It has a lot of features. I especially like: The light in front to light up the floor while vacuuming. Ease of emptying the canister. Long length of the cord. Three floor settings. Swivels while turning. Ease of operation. The tools and the soft rubber hose used for them. The rubber hose stretches and retracts for a longer reach. The first time I used the vacuum I was amazed at how much ground in dirt it picked up from my carpet. Used it on my hard kitchen floor and it picked up everything. I learned that if you don’t use the correct setting for floor height, the vacuum will actually try to pull away by itself. It is a great vacuum except for the fact it seems clumsy. The bottom needs to be wider. It seems out of balance. It works so good, I’m sure I will get used to it.

This Shark Duo Clean Powered lift away is very impressive for the short time I have had it. Some things I especially like are; It does a good job on both carpet and bare smooth floor, great at picking up pet hair, I have 2 cats and a dog all inside pets that shed. The cats have 2 cat towers that I clean with the lift away function and it does a great job on the cat towers. I do wish the dust bin was somewhat larger. This Shark NV-800 is very maneuverable, has excellent suction, I really like the eight LED headlights to light dark areas of floors and under tables. It has a top access brush roll that is great for maintenance, I feel sure you’ll like the washable and reusable filters, no need to buy filters, just wash em and put them back in saving you money on new filters. The filters are easy to get to. The long power cord is handy, easily stored on the Shark Duo Clean and convenient. The lift away feature makes for an easy job on stairs. Using the lift away feature makes vacuuming car carpet an easy task. Whether I’m doing pile carpet, hardwood floors or tile floors this Shark duo clean powered lift away does em all with ease. The low profile of the cleaner head helps a person get under furniture. A nice selection of tools are included with this Shark model; Pet multi-tool, duster crevice tool, flexi crevice tool and a pet power brush.
